A little tribute to Charles Bukowski. He reminds me quite a lot of an American version of Dennis Potter's lead character Philip Marlowe in The Singing Detective...with a few differences of course.

Chinese Dragon
This is a Chinese dragon (3 toes) I painted for a good friend of mine Shane. He's getting married and wanted a painting to celebrate the special occasion. I wanted to make something powerful and positive for him and Paula - something that will last the test of time and bring them oodles of luck both now and in the future.
Modern Man
Here's another painting I did while living in Melbourne for the past 8 years (more to come). This one I called Modern Man. Its meant to symbolise the loneliness of the modern worker - the 9 to 5'er. I must do a Modern Woman too but since I'm a guy I figured I'd start with the gender I know best. I imagined this guy to have spent his life working a 40 hour week for twenty years but getting no further than paying the rent - he's never had a holiday and has spent his life living on a strict diet of toast and baked beans! lol
He lost his hair after a tough year and used to have a hippy outlook - where is it now? :)
Welcome!
This is my first blog to show some of my drawings and paintings online. For the video side of things head to http://www.youtube.com/lateshiftvideo .
Hokkay - lets's get started...some paintings first eh?
This one is simply called Man With Hat. It was first made as a drawing and then I decided to paint him in acrylics. He was given away to a very good friend Nicole.
I think I want to make him again - this time with a body and in an interesting environment. I'm thinking 1800's France, walking down a crowded street - or even an empty street. When I get some time, we'll see.
